The journey to Brazil

Updated: May 17, 2018

Today, I am going to tell you about a story of excitement and the spirit of adventure. The story of how we began our journey across the Americas, across the Caribbean Sea and across the Amazon to a destination we have never visited before, but have awaited for a long time!

Our journey began at O'hare Airport at 6:00. It began as a journey up and down elevators, as group Check In was by Baggage Claim and the Escalator had broken down earlier in the day.

After that, the usual occurred. We passed through the TSA checkpoint and went to our gate and waited for the flight to board.

Students give a thumbs up as they wait for our flight to board

At last, Boarding had started! Our group boarded in Groups 3 and 4 and had seating assignments ranging from Row 27 to Row 40.

I was placed in an Aisle Seat next to Student Eric and in front of Instructor Murillo.

Our flight would take us over 5,000 miles directly to São Paulo in 9 hours and 47 minutes!

Most of the flight was uneventful, as it was a red eye flight. Most of our group decided to sleep throughout the flight as soon as they dimmed the lights

80% of our flight was this environment

But our Aircraft also had the inflight entertainment screens, giving us access to a variety of movies and such. I personally watched Baywatch, the original Ironman and the Flight map on the flight.

The Inflight Map shows we have left mainland USA!

In addition, we got served Dinner sometime on the flight. I remember that there were choices of Pasta and Chicken. I chose the Chicken. It was like a sour fruity chicken served with rice. I liked it!

After many hours of darkness and turbulence, the sun finally came up! We got a croissant and yogurt breakfast before touching down shortly after 9:30 AM on Monday. At last, we made it to Brazil!!!
